Chapters 19-26

Chapters 19- 26

a. If you were to organize the 100th year anniversary of The Little Prince Publication, what little prince- related activities would you organize and why?

The Little Prince “make your own planet”. It will show how creative people are and it will give us a new perspective of how others see it.

b. What adult quality does the little prince have? What child- like quality ha has? Whould you recommend this book to adults or to children? Why?

The adult quality is that the little prince is very protective. He shows this quality in taking care of his flower.

The child-like qualities are innocence and persistence; the little prince sees things in a way that only children view it. He also doesn’t let go of a question once he has asked it.

I would recommend it to adults and children. It is an eye-opener for adults. It makes them realize what adults are like and how they are behaving and to children to help them now more about grown-ups. Maybe this book would help adults and children get along.

c. What life story of the author Antoine de Saint Exupery is related to this novel?

Like the novel, Antoine De Sainte Exupery was a pilot. His aircraft crashed in the Sahara Desert and he suffered dehydration.

d. What happened to the little prince at the end of the story?

The little prince went back to his own planet and the pilot became really sad.

e. Why didn’t the pilot tell his true feelings when they finally found him? How is he related to our life when we conceal our true feelings from others?

Because maybe the others would just think that it was nonsense or something. We are also sometimes like that but there are many different reasons why.

f.

1. “ It is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye”

You cannot really see a person or thing fro what it is by only looking at it. You have to see with your heart to be able to see clearly.

2. “ I am responsible for what I have tamed” said the fox

When you tame someone, you become close with what you have tamed and you would not want to lose what you love, so it becomes your responsibility to take care of what you have tamed. Thus, you are responsible for what you have tamed.

3. “ Words are the source of misunderstandings”

Sometimes we are misunderstood for what we say. Maybe it is best if we let our actions speak for us.

4. “ What makes the desert beautiful is that somewhere it hides a well”

Ordinary places may have a hidden treasure within it somewhere.

5. “ I thought I was rich with one flower, that was unique in all the world; and all I had was a common rose

We think that we have such a great thing when all the others have much more.

6. “If you love a flower that lives on a star, it is sweet to look at the sky at night”
When you love something , it is really fulfilling to see something that reminds you of it.

Chapters 10-18

Chapter 10-18

a. Who uttered the line, “One must require from each one the duty which each one can perform”? What is the real life significance of this line?

The king uttered the line “One must require from each one, the duty that each one can perform”. You cannot order a blind man to read a book for you. You cannot just ask anyone something when that person is incapable of it.

b. What is the meaning of “It’s much more difficult to judge oneself than to judge others”?

It means that judging yourself is more difficult than judging other people because its your own opinion that matters.

c. What is meant by “Conceited people never hear anything but praise”? Do these kind of people actually suffer from this hearing problem?

Conceited people don’t have hearing problems, they have thinking problems. They think they are the best so they think they are worthy of praise,

d. What is the irony of the line “I am drinking so that I may forget”? Could you relate similar lines that you hear from people?

He is drinking so that he may forget he is drinking! Even though he can stop forgetting he is drinking by drinking!

e. Why does the business man want to be rich? How is the character related to real life people?

He wants to become rich so that he can buy more stars if there are any more discovered. Some people want to become rich so that they may become richer. It is funny how some people think…

f. What is meant by “there is nothing to understand. Orders are orders”? What is it’s real significance?

It means that there is nothing to understand when it comes to orders. You just have to do it. When you are told to do something, you don’t really have to understand it and do equations or anything, you just have to follow what you have been told.

g. How did the little prince perceive the character of the lamp lighter? Do you agree with him? Why?

The little prince perceived the man as absurd. But not as absurd as the other people on the other planets. I think I would agree with him that he is absurd for lighting the lamp on and off almost every minute.

h. What truth about adults does the geographer represent? How does he represent this truth about adults?

He represents the truth that adults are quiet busy and by being busy they do not even leave their desk for they are too important to go exploring. He represents this by asking the little prince to be his explorer.

i. How did the pilot describe planet Earth? How would you describe it?

The pilot described it with much fact and it is quiet easy to imagine. I would describe it the exact same way.

j. The snake described himself to be more powerful than the finger of a king. He also said that he speaks in riddles because he solves all of them. What made him say these statements?

His being poisonous made him say these statements

k. What truth about life is reflected in Chapter 18?

That earth is altogether harsh and forbidding

a. How did the people’s reaction toward the boa constrictor drawing affect the pilot’s life? What does it tell you about how adults should treat children?
It changed his whole life.

Instead of, maybe, being a superb painter or artist, he became a pilot. It is amazing how reactions and opinions can change or shape one’s life. It is such a shame that the pilot could have had a successful career as an artist which was what he liked to do but didn’t. It tells us that adults could do a little better in shaping children’s future by treating them the way they would like to be treated. If a child wants to be an artist then adults should be building them up not discouraging them.

b. How did the pilot finally draw the exact sheep wanted by the little prince? What does this tell you?
In every drawing the prince would comment until the pilot finally got what the prince wanted. So the pilot drew the sheep by criticism of the little prince. This tells us that you can never be right if you are never wrong.

c. Why nobody believed the Turkish astronomer when he talked about Asteroid B 612 for the first time? What does this tell you about grown-ups?
Nobody believed the Turkish astronomer because he was wearing a Turkish

costume. This tells me that the grown-ups in the story judged the Turkish man

by the way he appeared on the outside.

d. When do adults describe that a house is beautiful? What does What does this tell you?
An adult describes that a house is beautiful when it is expensive. I tells me

that the grown-ups in the story, see the price of an object as the basis if it is beautiful or not. But in real life it is not. The most beautiful and the things that make you happy cannot be bought.

e. What are baobabs? What aspect of life do they reflect?
The baobabs are trees which grow very big, as big as elephants. Once it has

Grown big you cannot terminate it anymore so you have to cut it while it is still small. They reflect our problems and any unsettled things. When problems are small you can easily solve early. When you solve them ate, it will be too big that you can’t solve it anymore.

f. How did the little prince react when the pilot replied “matters of great consequence?”? Why did the little prince react this way?
The little prince acted surprisingly. He had been very shocked with what the

pilot had said that he burst into anger. He reacted that way because he didn’t

like what the pilot had said about “matters of consequence”.

g. What is meant by “It is such a secret place, the land of tears”?
It may mean that it is a hidden place. It is very seldom that we see that place, the land of tears.

h. What aspect of life is reflected by the volcanoes?
The volcanoes represent our responsibilities. We must attend to our

Responsibilities so that it will not harm us.

i. Who uttered the line “I must endure the presence of two or three caterpillars if I wish to be acquainted with the butterflies”? What significant message is applied?
The rose. It implies that she must endure struggles along the way.

j. “She coughed two to three times in order to put the Little Prince in the wrong” ” What characteristic is shown on the statement? How is this seen in real life?
We pretend to do certain things to change the topic or get the person in wrong

k. How will you describe the relationship of the little prince and the flower?
The rose is the most precious treasure of the Little prince and the rose

depends on the little prince to be able to survive. The rose may be just like

all the other roses but it is that certain rose in his planet that the prince

treasures because it was he who cared for the rose and it was the certain rose

on his planet that he spent time with. Just like our loved ones. They may be

just the same or lesser than the other billions of people in the world but they

are the ones we care for because we have bonded with them and we were

the ones they tamed.
